Alive in Christ (Part 1)

“… that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself,” (Colossians 2:2) Wow! What a mouthful! All, I mean all of what is proclaimed in that verse applies to Christ’s disciples. When we “knit ourselves together” in Christ (through genuine fellowship with one another) our hearts are encouraged because His Spirit bears witness of the true knowledge of the mystery of God. (That’s intimate fellowship when we share God’s personal revelations with each other.) Specifically the mystery that God sent His Son to die on the cross, to pay our debt, so that we can be reconciled to Himself. His sacrifice not only paid the debt of our sin, but also, along with the Spirit that He gave to dwell within us, the resurrection power to free us to overcome sin and its hold over us. Imagine new hearts, minds and will to overcome the world and live with the freedom as servants of the one true king!

None of the above could be achieved on our own. We can’t earn it, work for it, or buy it. In Christ “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3) However, this mystery will not stay hidden if we truly seek Him. “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. ‘I will be found by you,’” (Jeremiah 29:13-14a) Keep seeking, keep knocking and keep knitting yourself together with other like-minded disciples.
