Acts 17
- Why didn’t Paul stop in the first two cities? Who was most receptive in Thessalonica?
- Paul went to the synagogue three weeks in a row. How many times did you have to hear the gospel before you “got it?”
- Who went to Thessalonica? Who went to Berea; who went to Athens? Do you suppose being alone and less repetition had anything to do with fewer converts in Athens?
- How were the Berean Jews more noble (17:11)? How is Paul’s approach with idolatrous Gentiles different (17:23-31)?
- Why is the gospel message received some places but not others?
- Do you suppose a church was planted in Athens? (17:34 & 1 Thess. 3:1)
- The Jews didn’t seem to be receptive in Athens and Paul’s spirit was provoked by the idolatry. Could those things be related? (1 Cor. 1:23)
- How is our culture like theirs in 17:21?
