Jesus set His face

  1. Isaiah 50:7— the servant “sets his face like flint.”  Jesus did in Luke 9:51.  Do you have that kind of resolve in cross-bearing and following the way of Jesus? Luke 9:23
  2. Jesus’ focus changed or intensified here in Luke 9:51.  What has been happening right before and right after this statement?
  3. Given verses 22, 44 & 51, why do you suppose it was so hard to comprehend (Mark 8:31-33)?  When have you not understood Luke 9:45, to the point of being at cross purposes with Jesus?
  4. Why did the Samaritans not welcome them (Luke 9:53)?
  5. What can you expect to encounter on your way to your “New Jerusalem” (Mark 18:34, Rev. 21:2)?
  6. As you look to Jerusalem and the events of Easter week, what self-denial and cross bearing do you need to do?
