“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.” (1 John 5:1) Unfortunately, due to ignorance, it is commonly reported that we are all God’s children. That’s not true. We are created in God’s image, but unless we choose to believe in Him and His Son that He sent to this world to be a sacrifice for our sin, we aren’t His children. And if we choose not to accept him as our Father, by default, the devil is our Father (John 8:44).
Because our Father in heaven loves us, He has given us His Spirit. His Spirit within us, along our wills that submit to His will, allow us to follow His commands. This is our reward for being “born again.”Our obedience to our new Father (by adoption) shows our love for Him.
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:4) See, it is possible, in fact, this is fact. The work has been done. Our task is to hold on to this fact by faith.
