Do You Not Know? Have You Not Heard?
~ Isaiah 40
- What comes to mind when you hear “comfort” not once but twice in 40:1?
- What is the difference between natural consequences of sin and the Lord’s discipline (v.2, Heb. 12:6)?
- What is the difference between man and his word and the word of God (v.8)?
- How is verse 10 both good news and bad news? For whom?
- What atmosphere is established with v.1 & v.11 (see also Ps. 23, 95:7)? How have you experienced The Lord like v.11?
- How does knowing that your comforting shepherd also created everything (v.12, 26, 28), knows everything (v.13-14), is over the nations (v.15-17, 23), and keeps everything ordered, (v.26) build our trust in him?
- Even though we know verses 18 & 25 what are you tempted to compare God to or trust in?
- Does verse 27 ever describe you?
- Are you waiting on the Lord or pushing ahead in your own strength (v. 31)?
